Our story
Making a Difference in the Lives of the Children in Port au Prince, Haiti.
Our journey began in 2015 with a simple yet powerful belief: every child in Haiti, regardless of their place of birth, deserves the opportunity to realize their full potential. Founded by Tracey Wozny, our mission is to provide underprivileged Haitian children with the tools they need to thrive and develop into strong leaders. We do so through our non-profit organization, Taking Shape and the Star Leadership Curriculum, a universal youth leadership program written through a servant leadership model.
Our story unfolds in the heart of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, where we initially set foot in a single-floor orphanage. With just one bedroom and 23 eager children, our vision took shape as we embarked on our mission to grow leaders Here, Near and Far.
When Tracey Wozny crossed paths with Pastor Jean Dieugrand, the Director of Le Phare Orphanage, an immediate connection was forged. Together, they embarked on a mission to uplift the children of Le Phare, offering them essential resources like school supplies, nutritious meals, and access to quality education in our Haiti school.
As the Haitian community rallied behind our cause, Takingshape blossomed into something greater than we could have ever imagined. The unwavering support of both local Haitians and generous donors in the United States enabled us to lease a nearby property. This facility has since been transformed into a thriving primary school, boasting multiple classrooms and a fully-equipped kitchen, enhancing our impact as a Haitian leadership and educational center.
From an initial class size of 31, our student body has now swelled to an impressive 225. Sixteen dedicated Haitian employees, including skilled teachers, cooks, and security personnel, ensure that Institution Mixte Le Phare des Anges (IMPA) adheres to our unwavering standards of excellence.
At IMPA, our students receive more than just an education; they receive meals, uniforms, school supplies, and the safety they deserve, a crucial aspect of our mission to support Haiti children in need. In a place where these basic necessities are often scarce, we are proud to make a difference through partnering with Le Phare Orphanage and the IMPA school.
While we celebrate our accomplishments as a Haiti non-profit, our work is far from complete. As long as there are Haiti children in need, struggling to secure even the most fundamental human rights, our commitment endures. We believe in the power of collective action.
Will you join us in our mission to transform the lives of Haiti children in need, making a meaningful impact through our Haiti non-profit and Haitian orphanage? Together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of Haiti children and the future of Haiti's education system.
